The deluxe edition of the award-winning graphic novel will be printed in a slightly over-sized version, with a release set for August, reports ICv2.
Top Shelf Productions will also release a new edition in the original paperback format at the same time.
Blankets is an autobiographical story that follows Thompson through his childhood with an Evangelical Christian family, charting his romantic life and struggle with religion as he enters into adulthood.
"A tale of security and discovery, of playfulness and tragedy, of a fall from grace and the origins of faith," says Top Shelf in its solicitation. "A profound and utterly beautiful work."
First published in 2003, Blankets has maintained high sales for almost a decade. Awards it has received include an Eisner, a Harvey, an Ignatz and the Prix de la Critique, as well as featuring in Time's top 10 best graphic novels.
Thompson's follow-up work Habibi - an exploration of Islamic culture - is due for release on September 20.
