The writer has been tasked to handle the relaunch of DC Comics' longest-running series this September as part of its company-wide revamp.
Daniel has said that fans can expect the relaunched Detective Comics to focus on shorter, more compact story arcs with an overarching consistent style and tone.
"This is more of a crime thriller noir as opposed to action-adventure," Daniel told Newsarama. "The stories will be short but at the same time larger than life.
"It will be different from what I've done before and different from the other Bat books. The premise is suspense/crime-thriller."
The writer also confirmed that due to the general public's familiarity with Batman and many of his supporting characters, the series will instead focus on moving forward while still remaining accessible to new readers.
"If I could describe it in on word it would be 'hardcore'," Daniel added.
Daniel has become an important creator for the Batman line over the past few years, serving as writer and artist for Batman, as well as penning the 2009 miniseries Battle for the Cowl.
Detective Comics #1 launches this September.
