The Preacher and The Boys scribe has written and directed the 15-minute short film, which will premiere at San Diego Comic-Con.
"Somewhere in the Mountains of Afghanistan... three little figures stagger across the desolate landscape," reads the description on fearthestitched.com.
"Their Blackhawk burning in the rocks and the rest of the crew gone with it, the trio must survive both the terrible conditions and the hostile attentions of the locals. But there are worse foes than Taliban fighters in this ancient land, as an old and terrible force arises to serve a twenty-first century evil."
The film blends horror with a modern war story, seeing the protagonists battling against an army of the resurrected dead.
The short comprises the opening scenes of a script for a full-length feature film, and will be released on DVD in November alongside an ongoing Avatar Press series which will continue the story.
The series will be illustrated by Mike Wolfer (Gravel).
The short film is being executive produced by Avatar founder William Christensen and produced by Lady Death creator Brian Pulido.
