'Fear Itself' to see rise of 'The Mighty'

Marvel Comics has teased the final issues of company-wide event Fear Itself, revealing that a new superteam will emerge to save the day.

The event follows Norse God of Fear, the Serpent - an old enemy of Odin - as he attempts to conquer the world with the help of eight selected avatars, referred to as The Worthy.

Marvel has now revealed that the latter half of Fear Itself will see a new team of Marvel Universe superheroes rise up to take on The Worthy.

"As the Serpent wages war across the entire Marvel Universe with The Worthy levelling everything in their path - The Mighty must rise up to end their reign of chaos," a Marvel spokesperson said.

The teaser image suggests that Iron Man, Hawkeye, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Iron Fist and Doctor Strange will all form part of the The Mighty.

The event has already seen the death of Bucky Barnes (aka Captain America) at the hands of the Red Skull.

Fear Itself continues on August 10.
