Womanthology, an all-female comics collection, has exceeded its Kickstarter.com goal.
The project, listed on the funding website, has raised $50,684 (£32,000), more than twice its original $25,000 (£16,000) goal.
Edited by artist Renae De Liz (The Last Unicorn), the first volume is centred around the theme 'Heroic'.
It features the work of "over 140 women of all experience levels", including writer and editor Barbara Kesel, Gail Simone (Birds of Prey), Secret Six), Annie Nocenti (Daredevil), artist Ming Doyle and Devin Grayson (Nightwing).
"Womanthology is the first of its kind," reads the Kickstarter entry.
"Never before have women in comics and media come together in such a huge way to create something like this. Never before has there been a publisher willing to give so many people a chance.
"By pledging, you are helping to create a piece of history itself, and being there to support a massive, positive movement of people into the right direction."
Womanthology will be published by IDW Publishing.
