Marvel Comics has released a variant cover design for the first issue of Ultimate Comics X-Men.
The Mark Bagley illustration depicts Wolverine, Iceman, Kitty Pryde and Human Torch against an orange background.
Ultimate Comics X-Men features a creative team of Secret Avengers writer Nick Spencer and X-Men artist Paco Medina. The original cover design for issue #1 was drawn by Kaare Andrews.

Marvel's solicitation for the comic reads: "Iceman, Kitty Pryde and the Human Torch discover the true history of the x-gene as the divide between mankind and mutantkind grows deeper than ever before! Who are the X-Men and how will they handle the fallout of this universe-shattering discovery?"
The series is being launched as part of the 'Ultimate Comics Reborn' initiative, with kicked off last month with the conclusion of Brian Michael Bendis's 'Death of Spider-Man'. The scheme also includes the debut of Ultimate Comics: Ultimates, the relaunch of Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man, and the Ultimate Comics: Hawkeye miniseries.
Ultimate Comics: X-Men #1 is due out on September 14.
