The Justice League International creative team have discussed the new title.

Writer Dan Jurgens and artist Aaron Lopresti will begin their title with a leadership battle as part of DC Comics' September relaunch.

"We tackle that right from the start," Jurgens told IGN

"For example, in issue one, the question of who is going to lead the team is actually front and centre. Not everyone will agree on who's selected, and that creates immediate problems."

The new lineup features Batman, Booster Gold, Guy Gardner, August General in Iron, Fire, Ice, Vixen and Rocket Red.

"I really sort of fell into the Generation Lost series but I quickly grew attached to the characters," said Lopresti.

"When it was revealed that DC would be launching a new JLI series, I was very excited to get a chance to continue with this team. Throwing Batman in there really sweetened the deal.

"Plus, I won't lie, getting to work on a high-profile book like this and launching a new #1 is just about everybody's dream."

Keith Giffen and JM DeMatteis's Justice League International team was critically acclaimed when it debuted in the '80s. Giffen recently returned to the characters in the 'Brightest Day' tie-in Justice League: Generation Lost.

Justice League International #1 will be released on September 7.
