'Walking Dead', 'American Vampire', 'Avengers' comics vie for Scream Awards 2011

This year's shortlists were selected by an advisory board including Neil Gaiman, Wes Craven, Tim Burton, Damon Lindelof, George A Romero, Robert Rodriguez and Rob Zombie.
The 'Best Comic Book or Graphic Novel' category features Scott Snyder and Rafael Albuquerque's American Vampire, John Layman and Rob Guillory's Chew, Fabio Moon and Gabriel Ba's Daytripper, Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriquez's Locke & Key and The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard.
Ed Brubaker, Hill, Kirkman, Grant Morrison and Mike Mignola have been shortlisted for 'Best Comic Book Writer'.
The 'Best Comic Book Artist' category includes Adlard, Mark Buckingham (Fables), Duncan Fegredo (Hellboy), John Romita Jr (The Avengers) and Bernie Wrightson (Doc Macabre).
Comic book adaptations Captain America: The First Avenger, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, RED, Thor, The Walking Dead and X-Men: First Class also received nominations in the awards.
The awards honour the best in science fiction, fantasy, horror and comic books.
The Walking Dead and writer Geoff Johns were honoured in last year's Scream Awards.
