The iZombie writer will pen a six-issue miniseries from October which will feature the most popular characters from both franchises.
"IDW contacted me back in the spring and asked me if I wanted to do it," Roberson told Newsarama. "I think my initial reaction was pretty much the same as many readers when they first heard the news: That's the most unlikely idea for a crossover ever, and I want to read it!
"The central idea of the crossover is that both Star Trek and the Legion inhabit optimistic futures in which humanity has gone out into the stars and made friends."
The miniseries will see members from both teams ending up on an alternate version of 23rd century Earth.
Representing Star Trek: The Original Series will be a core team of Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Sulu, Chekov and Uhura, while Brainiac 5, Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl, Lightning Lad, Chameleon Boy and Shadow Lass will fly the flag for DC's Legion of Super-Heroes.
Star Trek/Legion of Super-Heroes #1 will be published on October 19.
