The publisher picked up the license after striking a deal with property owner C3 Entertainment, ICv2 reports.
Papercutz announced plans to reprint classic comics featuring the legendary comedians, and release a new hardback title based on the upcoming Farrelly Brothers' Three Stooges movie. The books will also be available in digital.
St John Publications released the first Three Stooges comic book in 1949. Dell Comics, Gold Key Comics, and Eclipse Comics have also published titles inspired by the vaudeville trio. Malibu Comics reprinted the Gold Key books in the late 1980s.
Sean Hayes, Will Sasso and Chris Diamantopoulos will star in the Farrelly Brothers' Three Stooges, scheduled for release in April, 2012.
A release date for Papercutz's Three Stooges comics is yet to be announced.
