Haven Distributors announces closure

The independent comics firm will continue taking business until October 23, and fulfil all orders for the month ahead of its closure, Bleeding Cool reports.
Haven frequently challenged market leader Diamond Comic Distributors on price and availability of indie titles following its acquisition of fellow distributor Cold Cut.
The company was unable to carry comics by market leaders Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse, IDW and others due to their Diamond exclusivity. However, in 2009, it secured a deal to distribute BOOM! Studios titles.
The economic downturn and a declining interest in independent comics due to DC's 'New 52' initiative have been attributed to Haven's closure.
Haven has marked down stock by 55% to 85% for its final month in operation.
