The Spider-Man co-creator has teamed up with 1821 Comics to create Stan Lee's Kids Universe, a line featuring original material geared towards youngsters.
A collection of five books will kick off the venture. The launch titles include Monsters vs. Kittens, Reggie the Veggie Crocodile, and other original creations.
"Our main purpose is we feel that there aren't enough comic books or books for kids that really hit the target, that gives them excitement and humour together and are filled with surprises," said Lee at last weekend's New York Comic Con.
"We have a whole new group of new characters that the kids can call their own, just as the teenagers called Spider-Man their own so many years ago."
Lee is also targeting the Asian market, having previously entered an agreement with the Hong Kong-based Magic Storm Entertainment to create superheroes for a Chinese audience.
