Senior vice president of publishing Tom Brevoort has confirmed that former team member the Human Torch will return from the dead in the anniversary comic.
The move sees the superhero group revert to its original lineup for the first time since January, following a stint as the Future Foundation. Brevoort explained that details of the character's resurrection will be fleshed out in forthcoming issues.
"Yes, he did die. He died a couple of times," he told The AP, going on to assure fans that they will not "feel cheated or disappointed in the slightest", by the new turn of events.
Fantastic Four #600 is written by Jonathan Hickman, who killed off the Human Torch during the 'Three' plotline. The scribe also worked on the FF title which launched in the wake of the event.
"'FF will also continue, and Jon will be writing both of them. They will both function as sister titles," Brevoort explained. "One focusing on the core four and the other focusing on the Future Foundation and the broader base of characters that we have assembled."
Fantastic Four #600 was released today.
