The One Tree Hill actor's book is an apocalyptic tale inspired by the movies Constantine and The Crow.
Everlast follows a hero named Derek Everlast, who is appointed with the task of rounding up and protecting the people who must survive Armageddon. It will be published by Archaia Entertainment.
Murray told Reuters: "I've been writing for years but this was the first thing I ever followed through with." He went on to say that the story has enough scope to spawn follow-up material should the book prove a success.
"The world is kind of limitless, there is no end for it. There's a lot of stories we didn't tell. If an audience really embraces it and takes it in, maybe they would want to watch it on the screen. As a film, as a TV series, these are all options."
Everlast arrives in print this month.
