Mike Carey has said that he will depart X-Men: Legacy with " a lot of regrets".
The Unwritten writer has been working on the title and its X-Men precursor series since 2006.
Carey told Newsarama: "I guess there never is a 'right time' to leave, really, and I leave with a lot of regrets.

"But I've got commitments elsewhere that I was having trouble meeting, mostly prose fiction and screenplay stuff. I've had to cut back on a lot of fronts, and the last thing you want to do, if you're writing on a book like X-Men, is to skimp or to give it less than your full attention and energy.
"So I figured it would be best to bow out, at least for a while."
Carey said that, in terms of pages, his run on X-Men has been his longest on a series, including his 75-issue Lucifer title for Vertigo.
His run will conclude with a two-part story which will tie off some of the threads from his time as writer before handing over to Christos Gage.
X-Men: Legacy #259 will be released on November 30, with Carey's final issue #260 out on December 28.
