The online organisation has launched a fundraising campaign in order to find a space in Manhattan where it can store and exhibit its growing collection of art, documents and memorabilia, reports Den of Geek.
"Having such a space in one of New York City's most vibrant neighbourhoods will allow us to showcase educational programmes, lectures, exhibits and more to pay tribute to one of the greatest storytellers of the 20th century," said John Morrow, project announcer and publisher of the Jack Kirby Collector magazine.
"We are already reaching out to art collectors and educators in anticipation of opening."
The museum is initially seeking to raise $30,000 (£19,000) for a temporary, three-month installation.
Kirby was a very prolific comics creator who was involved in the creation of characters including the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, the Hulk and the New Gods.
He was born in New York City in 1917 and died in 1994 at the age of 76.
