'Sailor Moon' tops Nielsen BookScan graphic novel chart

Sailor Moon has topped the Nielsen BookScan graphic novel chart for the third month running.

Volume 2 of the manga property was the bestselling adult graphic novel in bookstores in November, fending off stiff competition from The Walking Dead Compendium Volume 1.

Kodansha Comics scored three top 20 titles with its Sailor Moon franchise. Sailor V Volume 2 came in third place, and Codename: Sailor V Volume 1 claimed 12th. The absence of Sailor Moon Volume 1 is thought to indicate supply problems, ICv2 reports.

Batman: Noel HC, a new entry from DC Comics, was the bestselling superhero title at #4. The publisher's Flashpoint HC collection remained in the top 20 for a second month, charting at #17.

Image Comics' Walking Dead accounted for six other places on the chart, in addition to taking the second spot, its best commercial performance since its associated TV show returned to screens.

Sailor Moon is expected to compete with DC's forthcoming 'New 52' collection for the top spot next month.
