Marvel Comics has announced John Carter: The Gods of Mars.
Sam Humphries and Ramon Perez will adapt Edgar Rice Burroughs's novel into a five-issue miniseries.
The publisher's follow-up to John Carter: A Princess of Mars sees the pulp science fiction hero return to Barsoom and face off against Mars's self-proclaimed gods.

"Gods of Mars is going to be a blast - tons of action and intrigue in a fantastic environment," said Humphries.
"From [Princess of Mars creative team Roger Landridge and Filipe Andrade] to Edgar Rice Burroughs himself, there's an impressive foundation of awesome John Carter stories to build on. Combined with Marvel having the most exciting comics going on right now, and most talented editors in the industry - I can't wait to get myself to Mars."
Humphries is best known for his Our Love is Real one-shot and the recently-launched Sacrifice.
Perez's acclaimed Jim Henson's Tale Of Sand debuted in December.
John Carter: The Gods of Mars will debut in March.
