The Jungle Book has been announced by Zenescope Entertainment.

The five-issue miniseries is a reimagining of Rudyard Kipling's classic stories, to be released under the publisher's 'Grimm Fairy Tales' banner.

Mark L. Miller, editor at Ain't It Cool News, will pen the title for Zenescope. Ale Garza will provide interior artwork, and produce four connecting cover designs. A retailer incentive cover will be drawn by Mike DeBalfo.

Jungle Book tells an alternate version of Kipling's tales, in which Mowgli is a young girl raised by wolves. She is one of four human cubs raised by beasts, destined to play a role in a civil war in the animal kingdom.

Zenescope's 'Grimm Fairy Tales' line previously spawned dark reimaginings of The Pied Piper Of Hamelin and The Little Mermaid.

The Jungle Book is released in March 2012.
