The acclaimed debut issue of their Image Comics title will receive a second printing.

The noir-horror comic centres on a reporter in 2012 who is drawn into a struggle with an apparently demonic and immortal mobster when he meets a beautiful woman who has been on the run since 1935.

"The overwhelming positive response to Fatale from retailers and fans has been a bit shocking, but a great way to start the new year," said Brubaker.

"Keep it up, and we'll keep putting out the best book we can."

"2012 is the year of the creator, and we couldn't imagine a more suitable way of kicking off our 20th anniversary than with this brilliant new series," said Image Comics publisher Eric Stephenson.

"Ed and Sean are two of comics' absolute best, and Fatale is their best work yet."

Fatale was the first comic to debut from Image in 2012.

Brubaker and Phillips have collaborated on various crime series including Criminal and Incognito.

Fatale #2 and the second printing of #1 will be released on Wednesday, February 1.
