IDW Publishing's Mars Attacks comic will be produced by the creative team of John Layman and John McCrea.
The Chew writer will team with the Hitman artist on the title.
The new series is based on the cult trading card series, which was licensed by the publisher last year.

"I'm a huge fan of Mars Attacks from a long way back," said Layman. "I own about half the original card set from 1962 and have a pretty big collection of collectables and doodads.
"It's always been a dream of mine to destroy the Earth and inflict huge degrees of suffering on the rest of humanity. With this Mars Attacks series, I finally get my chance."
Despite IDW's plans to reprint old Mars Attacks comics, the forthcoming series will be set in a completely new continuity.
Mars Attacks will launch in June.
