Wonder Woman artist Cliff Chiang is to turn co-writer on the title in April.

DC Comics announced that the illustrator will pen the 'New 52' series in collaboration with current scribe Brian Azzarello from issue #8.

Chaing told Newsarama: "Our creative process is pretty fluid, and both of us are concerned foremost with storytelling, so it just made sense for me to be involved at an earlier stage rather than do the book full-script.

"We'll throw ideas back and forth, he'll ask me to put on my old 'editor's hat' for feedback on scripts, so really we're just making the process more official."

Chaing joins a string of DC artists who have moved into writing roles, including J.H. Williams III, Francis Manapul, David Finch, and Tony Daniel. It is yet to be confirmed whether the change will be long-term, or just for the current story arc.

Wonder Woman #8 will be available in print and digital in April.
