'Exiled' will see the young team of mutants travel to Asgard under the pen of writers Kieron Gillen, Andy Lanning and Dan Abnett.
Little was revealed about the details of the story, but it will play upon the long-standing connection between the New Mutants and the Nordic pantheon.
"There's a history between New Mutants and Asgard," said Lanning at Marvel's Next Big Thing conference call.
"We really wanted to mess with that history and have characters travel to Asgard, so it is a little twist on how these stories have normally played out. We're trying to play it that there are some really cool reveals and surprises along the way."
Kieron said that they will be playing with some of the ideas he introduced during his brief run on New Mutants, as well as some of the tie-ins to the Asgard-centric 'Fear Itself' event.
New Mutants will also be tying into the upcoming 'Avengers vs. X-Men' crossover.
The story will fun in five issues in May, launching in the Exiled one-shot and following in Gillen's Journey Into Mystery #637, Abnett and Lanning's New Mutants #42, Journey Into Mystery #638 and finally New Mutants #43.
