'X-Treme X-Men' follows 'Exiles'

By
Greg Pak will pen Marvel Comics's new X-Treme X-Men title.

With art by Steve Segovia, the title will spin out of the pages of Pak's recent Astonishing X-Men run.

Unveiled at WonderCon 2012, the title will feature alternate reality X-Men introduced in the writer's previous story.

"Dazzler is the Marvel Universe character in it," said Marvel Director of Communications Arune Singh during the Talk to the Hat panel.

"There is a threat in existence but they have to stop a threat to reality. It's Greg and that crazy 'Planet Hulk' mind of his.

"If you liked Exiles, you'll like this."

The original Exiles title ran for 100 issues, and featured characters including the popular 'Age of Apocalypse' versions of Blink and Sabretooth and Nocturne, the alternate timeline daughter of Scarlet Witch and Nightcrawler.

Two later revivals were both very short-lived.

Marvel teased the X-Treme X-Men revival earlier in the week, leading to speculation of a return similar to Chris Claremont's original title.

The publisher also unveiled the new, Carol Danvers-starring Captain Marvel title during the panel.

X-Treme X-Men will launch in July.
