The prequel issue of the 12-part bi-weekly event took just one day to achieve the feat at Diamond Comic Distributors.
"Having Avengers vs. X-Men #0 sell out the same day the book goes on sale is phenomenal," said Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso. "The excitement level around this event has been monumental, and now fans can finally experience the story that we've been waiting years to tell."
Avengers vs. X-Men #0 is written by Jason Aaron and Brian Michael Bendis with art from Frank Cho. As the title only sold out at distribution level, it remains possible that copies are available to purchase through retailers.
Marvel confirmed that a second printing bearing a variant cover illustration is on the way, due to arrive in stores on May 2.
Avengers vs. X-Men #1 is scheduled for release on April 4.
