Spain Rodriguez draws 'Don Quixote' adaptation
Spain Rodriguez will draw a graphic novel reimagining of Don Quixote.

The veteran cartoonist has joined the Kickstarter project for Joan Dark.

"It's about a modern-day, female Don Quixote, dressed in homemade armour, who drives around the Midwest in a pickup truck, fighting evil and avenging injustice," said the creators.

"Like Don Quixote, she's crazy, but she's also an emotionally damaged Iraq War veteran. Free of the need to compromise or adhere to society's rules, she's inspiring and lovable, and destined for serious trouble."

Patrick Quinn is writing the book with Rodriguez drawing, inking and lettering.

Rodriguez is best known as the creator of Trashman, and was a key player in the underground New York comics scene in the late '70s.

The Joan Dark Kickstarter funding project will be open until June 21.
