Gorilla Grodd, created by writer John Broome and artist Carmine Infantino, first appeared in Flash v.1 #106, and has gone on to become a recurring foe of the Scarlett Speedster.
The issue's solicitation reads: "Continuing the debut of Gorilla Grodd in DC Comics - 'The New 52'! The Flash travels to Gorilla City for the first time! Who are the 'Runners' - and what do they mean for The Flash and the Speed Force?"
DC relaunched The Flash as part of its company-wide overhaul in September last year, with Manapul and Buccellato as its creative team.
The Flash #9 was released in stores today (May 23).
