Eagle Awards ends after 35 years

The Eagle Awards have ended after 35 years.

The British comics industry prizes will be renamed the MCM Awards from next year, reports The Forbidden Planet International Blog.

The 2012 awards were held at MCM Expo over the weekend.

Jeff Lemire (Animal Man) and Francesco Francavilla (Detective Comics) were named 'Best Newcomer Writer' and 'Best Newcomer Artist' respectively.

Scott Snyder (Batman) received the 'Best Writer' prize, with the 'Best Artist' honour going to JH Williams III (Batwoman).

Alex Wilson's The Time of Reflection won the 'Huntsman's Challenge' competition.

The Eagle Awards were launched in 1977 and moved to the London MCM Expo in 2010.
