Creator Dave Sim was appealing for $6,000 on the crowdsourcing platform to bring the series to a new medium, an amount he reached in less than nine hours.
Due to the resounding success of the appeal, which runs until the end of June, more digital Cerebus titles are expected to be produced.
Sim stated ahead of the campaign: "If more than $6,000 is raised then the money would be put aside to do e-books/audio books/digital graphic novels/oral history/weekly serialisations of all of the Cerebus books, beginning with Cerebus, Church & State vol. 1. Church & State vol. 2, and Jaka's Story."
High Society was originally serialised between 1981 and 1983, before arriving in graphic novel format in 1986. The story is a political satire in which the titular pig campaigns for the office of Prime Minister of Estarcion.
The Cerebus: High Society digital Kickstarter campaign runs until June 30.
