Rex Mundi will return in the pages of Dark Horse Presents.

Dark Horse Comics has announced a new storyline from creator Arvid Nelson for its anthology, as well as two new hardback collections of the existing material.

Rex Mundi is set in an alternate history of Europe where the Catholic church holds dominance and magic is a very real power.

Set in 1933, the murder mystery begins with the theft of a medieval scroll for a Paris church, leading Dr Julien Saunière into a conspiracy that centres around the Holy Grail.

"I'm thrilled Dark Horse is making Rex Mundi available in an omnibus format - it's the way it was always meant to be read," said Nelson.

"The story in Dark Horse Presents is the perfect introduction for new readers, and I think old-timers will get a kick out of it, too. We open things up with the Holy Inquisition in Paris, the day before the main storyline begins."

A Rex Mundi movie has been optioned by Warner Bros. Tron: Legacy screenwriters Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal were last reported to be working on the script.

The new Rex Mundi story will debut in Dark Horse Presents #15 on August 22, with the first omnibus volume arriving on September 5.
