The Will and Ann Eisner Family Foundation has teamed up with the American Library Association to bring more graphic novels to US libraries.

Launching at the ALA summer conference, the Will Eisner Graphic Novel Prize for Libraries will bring comic-related content to three selected libraries.

The chosen sites will receive all of the books nominated at this year's Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, a $2,000 voucher to purchase additional graphic novels, and $1,000 in funding to hold comic-themed events.

"While Will Eisner helped to create the foundation for graphic novels, librarians have championed the benefits of the graphic novel format and the comics medium to the world's readers," said Eisner foundation president Carl Gropper.

"The addition of the Eisner Award-nominated titles to the prize reflects the spirit of inclusion that Will Eisner was known for. He would have loved to have participated in the convergence of the comics and library communities."

Libraries can throw their hats into the ring for selection during the ALA summer conference, held June 21 to June 26 in Anaheim, California.

Winners will be announced on June 24.
