"SPOILER ALERT: Bunker's boyfriend will NOT be 'fridged'!" Lobdell wrote on Twitter.
"In fact, there's a very good chance he's going to join the team! I just get that vibe."
Former Justice League member Vibe has been teased to be returning to DC Comics in the near future, leading to rumours that he might be reimagined as a second homosexual Teen Titan.
Lobdell's "fridged" comment refers to the convention of introducing love interests for superheroes only to kill them off brutally. The term comes from the killing of Kyle Rayner's girlfriend Alexandra DeWitt shortly after his debut as Green Lantern.
Earth 2's Green Lantern Alan Scott was recently revealed to be gay. In the following issue, his lover was killed in a train crash.
DC has pledged to introduce more gay characters to its relaunched New 52 universe.
