The publisher has filed trademark documents showing that it owns the rights to the variation on Marvelman, according to 20th Century Danny Boy.
It has been speculated that this may pave the way for Neil Gaiman and Mark Buckingham to complete their truncated run on the now legendary series.
Marvel announced that it had acquired the rights to the original Marvelman name at San Diego Comic-Con in 2009, but has done little with the property since then.
The rights to Miracleman are thought to have passed to Gaiman as part of the recent settlement of his lawsuit with Todd McFarlane.
Part of the creators' legal battle, which centred around Spawn, was over McFarlane's use of Miracleman characters owned by Gaiman.
McFarlane at that point owned the rights to some of the property's characters and Gaiman possessed the rest.
Gaiman was recently announced to be returning to another of his most celebrated franchises, The Sandman.
