Alan Moore has announced a new, HP Lovecraft-inspired title.

Providence will be published through Avatar Press, reports Bleeding Cool.

The ten-part series will star legendary horror writer Lovecraft himself, Moore revealed at the Northants International Comic Expo (NICE).

Set in New England in 1919, the book will explore events that turned Lovecraft into the master of cosmic horror fiction.

It will also star a secretly gay and Jewish policeman in an exploration of Lovecraft's sympathies with Adolf Hitler.

His previous Avatar series Neonomicon was also inspired by the stories of Lovecraft.

It is unknown whether artist Jacen Burrows - who has collaborated with Moore on various Avatar titles including Neonomicon, The Courtyard and Yuggoth Cultures and Other Growths - will reunite with him on the new comic.
