Madefire's motion comics application is now available for Apple iPhone and iPod Touch devices.
The free app, developed in conjunction with Watchmen artist Dave Gibbons, was previously launched exclusively for iPad.
Madefire has optimised the software for the smaller screen and included support for the iPhone 5's 4-inch Retina display. It comes with six titles, including Gibbons's sci-fi action series Treatment: Tokyo and Treatment: Mexico City.
Other acclaimed comics professionals involved in the venture include Mike Carey, Robbie Morrison and Liam Sharp, who are developing exclusive content for the platform backed by animation and sound effects.
"We have seen these great innovations
in other forms of entertainment such as gaming, movies and television, but reading has largely transferred words to the digital page without transforming the experience," said Sharp.
Madefire's motion comics will host premium content in the future as the platform's install base grows.
