Anne Rice's The Wolf Gift is to be adapted as a graphic novel by Yen Press.

Hachette's graphic novel and manga imprint announced that it has acquired the worldwide rights to the werewolf book at New York Comic Con, and will release the project in 2014, reports ICv2.

The Wolf Gift is a lycanthropic tale with a modern day setting, following a journalist who is attacked by a werewolf and transformed into one by night, leading to the authorities hunting him.

A movie adaptation of the bestselling novel is under consideration, with Rice naming White Collar actor Matt Bomer as her ideal candidate for the lead role.

Yen Press is also adapting one of Rice's best known works, Interview with the Vampire, as a graphic novel, due for release in November.

Rice's Servant of the Bones was adapted by IDW Publishing last year.
