Lazy writers make superheroes orphans, says Stan Lee

By
Stan Lee has explained why superheroes are often orphans.

The comics legend discussed the background of some of comics' most famous characters in an interview alongside Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb which was posted on the film's Facebook page.

"Why is it that all superheroes are orphans?" asked Webb.

"Because the writers are too lazy to dream up a background for them," said Lee.

He went on to say that, before the advent of Marvel Comics, superheroes' homes were never revealed.

"I understand that everybody who goes to Forest Hills now, they're looking for Spider-Man's house," said Lee.

The writer has created some of Marvel's most famous orphans, including Spider-Man and Cyclops.

Lee recently said that he wants a bigger cameo in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man sequel.
