'Batgirl' gets stand-in writer Ray Fawkes

Batgirl is to be written by Ray Fawkes for two issues in March.

The news follows confirmation of Gail Simone's departure from the DC Comics title, which was announced over Twitter earlier this week.















Justice League Dark scribe Fawkes will act as a guest writer on issues #18 and #19 of the 'New 52' title, DC's solicitations have confirmed.

Simone, who launched the comic in 2011 for the 'New 52', initially described her Batgirl exit as "baffling and sad".

She released a longer piece about her feelings regarding the departure on her Tumblr. No specific reason has yet been offered for her exit.

Batgirl #18 is released on March 13.
