The comic will be openly available to download and share in DRM-free formats when it is released in 2013. A collected print edition will be released once the story is complete.

"Inspired by the works of Moebius, Hayao Miyazaki, Sergio Leone and Alejandro Jodorowski, Niro is the story of a gunslinger cleric and a young girl who becomes his unlikely companion as they search for The Nomad - a roaming fortress that may hold both the girl's captive family, and answers to Niro's mysterious past," reads the official website.

Stewart is best known for his collaborations with Grant Morrison on titles including Seaguy, Seven Soldiers of Victory: Manhattan Guardian and Batman and Robin.

His recently completed webcomic Sin Titulo will also be collected in a single-volume hardback by Dark Horse Comics next year.
