Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Axel Alonso revealed the continuing success of the controversial final issue of the long-running series.
"The sales are phenomenal," he told Business Week.
"Amazing Spider-Man #700 has sold nearly 250,000 copies in print alone; final digital orders aren't in yet. This is the best-selling comic book at this price-point of the last decade, at least."
With an unusually high price of $7.99 (£4.94), ComicBook.com estimates that the title has grossed almost $2 million (£1.2 million) in sales.
In unit numbers, it is still yet to approach 2012's top seller The Walking Dead #100, which sold over 383,000 copies.
Amazing Spider-Man #700's debut last week revealed the identity of the new hero in the soon-to-be-released Superior Spider-Man.
