The relaunched X-Men will feature a cast of characters that includes Storm, Rogue, Kitty Pryde, Rachel Summers, Psylocke and Jubilee.

"I feel like as far as the X-Men go, the women are the X-Men," Wood said. "Cyclops and Wolverine are big names, but taken as a whole, the women kind of rule the franchise."

Jubilee will serve as the comic's protagonist, but Wood was quick to point out that all of the characters will have starring roles, insisting that it will not be a "Jubilee and friends book".

Grant Morrison creation Sublime will return to the X-Universe as a reluctant ally to the titular team during Wood and Coipel's run on the book.

X-Men #1 will be released in April.
