Brian Michael Bendis has teased a twist ending for Marvel Comics' Age of Ultron.

The All-New X-Men writer has said that "literally five people know" what happens in the conclusion of the upcoming event.

"[Artist] Brandon [Peterson] is handling one section, while Carlos [Pacheco] is handling another section, and they will be merging towards the end, for another artist who is a mystery to everyone, including the other artists," Bendis told Newsarama.

"I felt bad that Bryan [Hitch] and Brandon and Carlos don't have a full sense of the big picture, but we have a big surprise at the end of this story that literally five people know.

"There are people in editorial who don't know, and they're annoyed by it. There are friends of mine who work in comics and work very closely with me who kind of go, 'No, you can tell me'. I'm like, 'I really can't'. It is the closest kept secret."

Age of Ultron will see the Earth brought to the brink of destruction by the Avengers' robotic arch-nemesis.

The core ten-part miniseries will launch in April with three issues before falling into a bi-weekly schedule.

It will be supported by 'AU' issues in various ongoing series, as well as a solo Ultron title featuring the villain's son and former Runaways hero Victor Mancha.
