"Thank you to all our fans for expressing just how much they love DC Nation on Cartoon Network," DC wrote on its Facebook page.

"There's still more new Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series to enjoy in the coming weeks. And DC Nation isn't going anywhere - There will be plenty of new adventures coming your way later this year."

Viewers launched an online petition to save the fan-favourite shows after it was revealed that they are not part of the new slate for the DC Nation programming block.

Both shows went on unannounced hiatus in 2012, with their recent returns believed to have come in order to finish airing their final completed episodes.
