Willem and Akira Toriyama have received the top Angoulême prizes.

The dutch cartoonist received the regular 'Grand Prix', while the Dragon Ball and Dr Slump creator was awarded an extra Grand Prix to mark the event's 40th anniversary.

The shortlist for the prize has been revealed to have also included Alan Moore, Chris Ware and Akira creator Katsuhiro Otomo.

Willem will go on to serve as president of next year's festival.

Other prizes included the 'Prix Spécial Du Jury', which went to Glyn Dillon's critically acclaimed Nao of Brown.

The annual Angoulême International Comics Festival, which is based in the French city of the same name, is billed as the second largest event of its kind in the world.
