Paul McCartney's Beatles departure becomes comic book

Sir Paul McCartney's decision to quit The Beatles has become the subject of a new comic book.

The legendary musician's early solo career following the band's breakup in 1970 has been adapted into a 24-page comic titled Paul McCartney: Carry That Weight.

It is the third comic book from US publishers Bluewater Productions about The Beatles.

Factors which are said to have led to the Beatles' split include artistic differences, legal issues and John Lennon's relationship with Yoko Ono.

"It is about Paul McCartney leaving the Beatles. We tell that story," publisher Darren Davis said.

"These are comic books. They're meant to be fun but educational, as well."

Davis added that McCartney was not involved in the book, but that he was contacted about the project.

The comic will be released digitally and will be available to buy in stores this week.

Sir Paul McCartney will headline this year's Bonnaroo 2013 alongside Mumford & Sons at Great Stage Park in Manchester, Tennessee in June.
