Robert Kirkman: 'Walking Dead' lawsuit is 'ridiculous'

Robert Kirkman has responded to Tony Moore's Walking Dead lawsuit.

The writer dismissed his former collaborator and childhood friend's demand for compensation in a statement made to The Hollywood Reporter.

"The lawsuit is ridiculous, we each had legal representation seven years ago and now he is violating the same contract he initiated and approved and he wants to misrepresent the fees he was paid and continues to be paid for the work he was hired to do," said Kirkman.

"Tony regularly receives payment for the work he did as penciler, inker and for grey tones on the first six issues of The Walking Dead comic series and he receives royalties for the TV show, to assert otherwise is simply incorrect."

Moore has claimed that he was tricked into signing away his rights to the franchise, which spawned the hit television show.

Kirkman posted an image from an early issue of the comic highlighting his role as "creator, writer, letterer" and Moore's as "penciller, inker, grey tones".

Moore worked on the first six issues of the comic with Kirkman and provided covers up to issue #24.
