BBC
Tennant's run as the Time Lord concludes with the two-part special 'The End Of Time', scheduled to air over the holiday season. Speaking to MTV in the US, the star revealed that one of the things he will miss about the role is appearing in weekly comic strips.
"In Britain, we have Doctor Who Magazine and we have Doctor Who Adventures, which is for kids and [the magazine] is for a slightly older audience, and they both have comic strips," he said. "One of the things I'm going to miss is being in a comic strip every week. It tickles a curious part of one's vanity, and I'll miss that."
IDW Publishing also distributes an official tie-in comic in the US, which has featured the work of acclaimed creators Tony Lee and Pia Guerra. Tennant also admitted that he was unfamiliar with the book until recently.
"I discovered that in America you have a dedicated comic book series," he added. "I had no idea. We don't hear about this back home.
"It's an odd one - it has many tentacles, this show. Like I said, I'm on birthday cakes and childrens' pants and kites and chocolate bars, and to see yourself in a comic strip is quite odd. It's quite hard to relate it to yourself."
'The End Of Time: Part One' airs on BBC One on Christmas Day, and December 26 on BBC America.
