Full Summary: Manning, Colorado: Vampire hunter and John Winchester's mentor Daniel Elkins is murdered in his own home by a group of vampires. It's not long before Sam and Dean pick up the scent of this fatality and make the link between Elkins and their father...

The brothers make their way to Elkins' desolate house and dig around for clues to what could have killed him. Outside, meanwhile, a shadowy figure watches from afar.

Dean locates a clue scribed in the floor which may help them in their investigations. They make their way to a safe deposit box where they find a letter addressed to 'J.W.' – John Winchester, maybe? The boys are startled when somebody knocks on the car window…

Their father, John, has arrived to help solve the case and look for an old revolver he's strived so much for. Why is it so important he locates it? John ensures his sons have the background on the vampire race - a race which John thought was extinct.

The trio pick up the trail of the pack of vampires and they know they're heading in the right direction.

Sam continues to ask questions of his father, adamant that he's keeping something from him and his brother. A confrontation ensues resulting in Sam and his father delivering some home truths.

Sam, Dean and John find the vampires' den and discover that sunlight won't destroy them. The only way to kill them is by beheading them. Will they destroy the group or fail in their mission to retrieve the elusive revolver?

They make their way into the old barn where they realise there's a battle to be fought if they are to retrieve their weapon of choice.

Later, Sam has the long-awaited heart-to-heart he's been waiting for with his father. Will they finally settle their differences, reach a resolve and become father and son again?

Dean returns with a vile of blood – dead man's blood. It acts like a poison to vampires. It's action time – but John's adamant he'll fight the demon that killed his wife alone, mush to his sons' dismay.

While John diverts the attention of most of the group of vampires, Sam and Dean head back to the barn. On the highway, however, there's a battle on John's hands…
