S03E01: 'Smith and Jones'

On her way to work, young medical student Martha Jones encounters a manic man taking his tie off amidst a series of phonecalls from family members concerning her brother Leo's birthday that night.

Once inside the hospital, Martha's suspicions are aroused by two shady figures looking like motorcycle couriers. The student joins consultant Mr Stoker for his rounds of the wards, where they encounter a man with stomach trouble - The Doctor. Martha recognises him as the man with the tie, but he has no knowledge of the incident. She's then shocked to discover he has two hearts, but says nothing through fear of embarrassment in front of Stoker.

A large cloud forms above the hospital and the rain rises upwards. In a matter of seconds the hospital is transported to the surface of the moon, where the building is kept within an oxygen filled bubble. The Doctor and Martha become acquainted, with the latter unconvinced her new friend is an alien. She does point out that the oxygen will soon run out though.

Several spaceships land on the moon, bearing helmeted intergalactic police knows as the Judoon. They enter the hospital, assimilate the human language and reveal not only their rhino-like faces, but their objective of capturing a non-human villain contained on the premises.

Meanwhile, an elderly female in the patient called Florence reveals her sinister nature by hooking up with her henchmen - the mysterious motorcycle courriers - to pin down Stoker and drink his blood via a straw. This enables the alien to take his human DNA and pass the screening the Judoon are carrying out.

The Doctor is confronted by the rhinoesque creatures and is found to be non-human and sentenced to execution. He and Martha quickly flee and soon discover Stoker's drained body. The Doctor goes on the hunt for a blood-sucking Plasmavore, but suddenly snogs Martha without explanation.

As the Judoon proceed to work their way through the floors, they scan Martha and discover she has non-human elements around her mouth - thanks to a genetic transfer from The Doctor.

Florence is located by the Gallifreyan, posing as an ignorant human, as she fiddles abbout in the radiation unit to create a weapon that will destroy all surrounding lifeforms apart from herself - including those on Earth. The Doctor tells the Plasmavore that he heard the Judoon were stepping up the leel of their scans, which compels Florence to opt for another transfusion to keep posing as a human. With their help of her helmeted henchman, she digs her straw into the Time Lord's chest and sucks away.

After being confirmed as a human and receiving compensation for her troubles, Martha follows the Judoon as they continue their search. They find The Doctor on the floor - not breathing - and their search is seemingly at an end. However, some quick thinking from Martha sees her grab the genetic scanner and turn it on the already scanned Florence. Having soaked up non-human blood her true identity is unveiled. She is executed for her crimes, but not before she switches the radiation weapon on.

The Judoon quickly flee the hospital, with the oxygen now nearly gone, and Martha sucks up enough air to give The Doctor the kiss of life. He quickly deactivates the weapon and is relieved to soon find that the Judoon return the hospital to Earth in the nick of time.

Going their separate ways, Martha heads to the party that night only to witness a big family row between her mother, her father and his young girlfriend. The Doctor is lurking nearby and entices Martha into the Tardis for one journey as a reward. Before this, he shows his new companion the ship's time-travelling capability by going back to the morning and taking his tie off in front of her...
