S02E04

A young man called Lucien is playing basketball and is pulled down an open manhole by some unseen entity. At the same time, an anomaly is detected at the Arc and Cutter calls the team together to investigate. However, Connor is delayed after his girlfriend Caroline switches his phone off.

Cutter and Stephen investigate the sewers with no success. The team sets out on boats later that night on the canal and Jenny is accidentally knocked into the water. A fin is seen above the water, heading towards her, but Cutter arrives in his boat to save her.

The creature is killed and a post-mortem of the shark-like creature - with teeth on its tongue - reveals a basketball and trainer inside its stomach. Cutter believes there are other monsters on the loose.

Abby finds Rex the lizard on the verge of death inside the refrigerator, with Caroline being the only suspect as she was last to leave the flat. Abby wraps a blanket around Rex to warm him up.

Cutter sees a mysterious man dressed as a soldier whose face he recognises from previous investigations. He gives chase, but is knocked out by the man once he confronts him.

The team head back to the canal on their boats. Abby is grabbed by a massive monster and taken underwater. She doesn't resurface and the team fear her dead, with Connor blaming Cutter for her supposed death by not bringing any back up.

Abby wakes up in a semi-immersed cell alongside Lucien. They are eventually found by Cutter and Connor after they explore a warehouse. Lucien is rescued and Abby uses her kickboxing skills to repel the beast. Abby falls through the anomaly and almost plunges to her death from a cliff. Connor, who followed in after her, holds her hand on the edge and as she clings on for life, he admits that he loves her.

The rest of the team turn up and haul the pair to safety and return back to their own time. Later, Connor is on the verge of repeating to Abby what he said earlier, but Caroline arrives on the scene and the couple head off on a date. It then emerges that Oliver Leek, last seen colluding with Caroline, is also working with Helen Cutter and the soldier chased by Nick Cutter.
